Sony Vegas Pro 是一个专业影像编辑软件。超越 Premiere，挑战 After Effects。Sony Vegas集剪辑、特效、合成、Streaming一气呵成，结合高效率的操作介面与多功能的优异特性，让用户更简易地创造丰富的影像。Sony Vegas 中无限制的视轨与音轨，更是其他影音软件所没有的特性。在特效上更提供了视频合成、高级编码、转场特效、修剪、及动画控制等。不论是专业人士或是个人用户，都可因其简易的操作界面而轻松上手。Vegas可以说是数字影像、流媒体、多媒体简报、广播等的高效解决方案。
最初由Sonic Foundry（已被索尼收购）开发，现由索尼旗下子公司索尼创造软件负责开发维护工作。
最早的版本是作为音频编辑软件而开发销售的，从2.0开始转型为非线性编辑软件。
其特点有：
无限制复合轨道视频、音频合成；
支持不同分辨率视频素材在同一工程内编辑；
集成特效与轨道合成工具；
支持24-bit/192 kHz音频文件；
DirectX和VST特效插件支持；
10代开始支持OFX特效插件；
11代开始支持GPU硬件加速，并放弃对Windows XP的支持；
12代开始仅支持64bit操作系统。
2016年5月24，Magix 公司（欧洲最强劲的、非线性编辑软件设计公司，不仅独霸欧洲市场，同时又占领了美国市场…）发布新闻，宣布正在并购 SONY SCS （Sony Creative Software）的软件产品，包括 SONY Vegas Pro, Movie Studio, Sound Forge Pro, 以及 ACID Pro 等产品线。因此 Sony Vegas Pro 也更名为 MAGIX Video Pro。当然，SONY 公司的4K、RAW剪辑利器、相关产品系列（比如： Catalyst Production Suite， 官网的链接在此）, 仍由SONY 公司主导研发，着重于广播电视领域的应用。

- Up to 40x video velocity. Create extreme fast motion effects with the new higher velocity limit. Combine with the event playback rate for a maximum clip velocity of 40 times normal speed.
- Smart zoom. Define the focal point of your video regardless of what was originally framed in camera. Use keyframing techniques to create exact zooms in post production that your videographer didn’t shoot in the field.
- Smart Adaptive Deinterlacing. Transform even the fastest paced deinterlaced material to modern progressive footage with stunning quality and clarity.
- Script for grouping video and audio events. Create custom scripts for combining video and audio material. Automatically group objects you have selected.
- You decide which resampling mode to use. Set resampling mode on a project-wide basis and start all your projects with that setting if you choose to.
